Spring Break - Kiawah Island

If you follow me on Instagram you know that we just spent the most wonderful week in South Carolina. This was Elia's very first spring break so we decided to take advantage of her time off from school and join friends and their families in renting a house on Kiawah Island.

Kiawah Island is about 35-40 minutes outside of Charleston. Todd and I have planned to visit Charleston multiple times over the last few years and just haven't actually made it for one reason or another. We were thrilled when friends proposed renting a house so close to Charleston so we could finally explore the area.

I was also thrilled when I saw the home that Jess, my college bestie, found to rent. It was gorgeous in photos and just as impressive in person. We were also thrilled that it was about a one-minute walk to the beach. Wells especially, who was talking about the beach and "san-pipe-uhs" (sandpipers) for at least a full week ahead of the trip and the whole way down and every day after we got there.

When we arrived to the rental, we headed straight to the beach.

You guys.

I wish you all could have been there with us to see Wells experience the ocean for the first time. I have never seen a happier human being.

This kid is regularly filled with joy but this was elation.

We spent plenty of time at the beach during the week playing in the sand, taking after dinner beach walks almost daily, and I even took a run on the beach one morning. (Running isn't so as bad with views of the ocean stretching ahead of you as far as you can see.)

Throughout the week, we found jellyfish, hermit crabs, and sea sponges at low tide and watched pelicans flying through the air and saw Wells' beloved sandpipers running in the sand. It's a beautiful part of the country.

Before we left, we decided it would be fun to do a quick house tour on Instagram stories with Elia as the tour guide. If you're curious about the house, take a look!

The rental was the perfect home base for our trip. It was a beautiful home and was a perfect size to share with two other families. We just loved our time there.

P.S. If you are interested in checking out the house for an upcoming vacation (or just for fun), shoot me an email (griggsandwoodward [at] gmail [dot] com) or leave a comment with your email address below and I'll send over the link.
