Today we went on a snowshoeing hiking adventure. Due to warmer than average conditions, our planned snowshoeing and sledding adventure turned into a lovely winter hike. No one seemed to mind.
We hiked a beautiful trail in West Olive that my family used to visit when we were kids. Pigeon Creek Park features cross-country skiing and snowshoeing on groomed trails with a variety of loops with varying distances and difficulties, plus a kid-sized sledding hill complete with a designated walkway to prevent two-way traffic collisions. The lodge was closed today because of the weather but you can also rental cross-country skis and snowshoes there and they have concessions available as well. It's a great spot for winter family fun.
Despite the slight change in plans, both kids really enjoyed the hike and we're looking forward to returning this winter to snowshoe and sled when conditions permit.
